Fall Arrest
Q: What is the recommended height to be wearing a fall-arrest system?

A: A fall arrest system should be worn when you are standing on a structure and your feet are 2 metres or more above ground level.

Q: For a full fall arrest system what do I need?

A: You will need a harness, a fall arrester and an anchorage point.

Q: How often is it recommended that a harness should be checked or serviced?

A: A qualified person should check the product before each use, and the harness should be fully serviced by the distributor or manufacturer every year.

Footwear
Q: What categories of footwear are there?

  • SB-Toe protection tested to 200 Joules impact. 
  • S1- Safety footwear with leather upper 
  • S2- As S1 plus water Resistant upper 
  • S3- As S2 plus penetration resistant sole to 1100 neutrons.

This safety and protctive footwear has been selected to offer a comprehensive range of styles allied with modern manufacturing methods, which are suitable for all types of working conditions.

Safety Standards:

Our footwear conforms to EN345 Safety Footwear giving 200 joule toe protection and EN346 Protective Footwear, giving 100 joule toe protection.

Extreme Sizes:

Some styles are available in extra large sizes and are noted on the chart. Please refer to price list for costs.

ESD- Electric Static Dissipative Footwear:

ESD Footwear is dessigned specially for the electronic componenets manufacturing and assemply industries. ESD conforms to BSEN 1000015/1 1992 to be superseded by IEC 61340-4-3.

Q: What categories of gloves are there?

Category 1 : The manufacturer is responsible for ensuring its products comply with the essential requirements of the directive.

Category 2 : A CE certificate of conformity is obtained from a notified body.

Category 3 : CE certificate of conformity and regular inspection of manufacturer's production facilities by notified bodies.

EN 471 Standards for High Viz

EN471 is the harmonised European standard for high visibility clothing. It specifies the requirements for signalling the users presence day or night. It intends to make users in hazardous situations conspicuous under any light conditions.

X = Surface of fluorescent and retro - reflecting
material - 3 levels

Y = Quality of the retro-reflecting materials - 2
levels  

   Class 2  
Class 3:
Highest level of protection - required for any persons working on or near motorways or dualcarriage ways or airports. Must incorporate a minimum of 0.80m2 of background material and 0.20m2 of retro-reflective materials
Class 2:
Required for any persons working on or near A and B class roads, also for delivery drivers. Must incorporate a minimum of 0.50m2 of background material and 0.13m2 of retro-reflective material.
Class 1:
Minimum level of protection required for any persons working on a private road or to be used in conjunction with a higher classed garment. Must incorporate a minimum of 0.14m2 of background material and 0.13m2 of retro-reflective material.

GO/RT 3279 Railway group standard
Q: What is GO/RT 3279 Railway group standard?

A: GO/RT 3279 Railway group standard for high visibility warning clothing is in railway orange which conforms to EN 471. For specific safety reasons Railway orange is closer to the clearer end of the orange spectrum.

EN 343 is the European standard, which applies to garments worn in adverse weather conditions. It specifies the characteristics of protective clothing against the influence of foul weather, wind and cool above = - 5c.

The following letter styles are available in standard size at £1.50 per logo on left or right breast from the wearer and have no set up charge

Reflective and Encapsulated Badging
Q: When do you use encapsulated badging?

A: As the badges are normally stitched on they are mostly used on bespoke garments or waistcoats as fixing them on the garments afterwards will require welding them on. Badges start from about £2.00.

Q: When do you use Reflective Badging?

A: On made garments which need to be waterproof or water repellent and which need to be visible. Badges start from about £2.00.
